I went in knowing Python reasonably well but having no idea how to handle text data for a model. By the end of the NLP workshop, I had a working classifier trained on our company's support tickets. The part I found most useful was the section on tokenisation decisions — it changed how I had been thinking about the problem.

The Computer Vision course was the most organised technical training I have done. Every session started with a clear problem to solve, and the code we wrote to solve it was the explanation rather than just an example. I am now using the same pipeline structure at work. The transfer learning session was particularly dense — might benefit from one more session — but the quality was consistently high.

I used the Capstone Mentorship to build a document classification system for a legal client. The mentor asked good questions at each stage rather than just telling me what to do, which meant I understood my own code properly. The project is now live in production, which I would not have expected to say three months ago.

The NLP Workshop was well-suited to where I was in my learning. I had read a lot about language models but had not built one from scratch with my own data. The preprocessing section was genuinely surprising — things I had skipped over in tutorials turned out to matter quite a lot when working with Thai-English mixed text.

I took the Computer Vision course to understand what our engineering team was actually doing. I am not a developer, so I was a bit worried, but the pace worked. By week two I could read our team's code and ask useful questions about the decisions they had made. That was what I needed.

I went straight from the NLP Workshop to the Capstone Mentorship because the workshop left me with enough foundation to start a real project but not enough to finish one without guidance. The combination worked well. The mentorship kept me from going down several dead ends, and I finished with a project I can actually show clients.

How Participants Used Their Programs

Challenge

Support Ticket Classification

An e-commerce company in Bangkok had a growing volume of customer support tickets in Thai and English. Staff were manually routing them, which was slow and inconsistent.

What They Did

A data analyst on the support team attended the NLP Workshop and built a classifier using the company's existing ticket archive. The preprocessing choices learned in the workshop were directly applicable to the mixed-language data.

Outcome

A working classifier was deployed internally within four weeks of the workshop. Routing accuracy was substantially better than the previous manual process. The developer continued iterating on the model independently after completing the program.

Challenge

Defect Detection in Manufacturing

A small manufacturing firm wanted to automate visual inspection of components on a production line. Manual inspection was creating a bottleneck, and the cost of missed defects was significant.

What They Did

A backend engineer attended the Computer Vision Fundamentals course and subsequently enrolled in the Capstone Mentorship Program to build the defect detection system as their project. The mentor helped scope the data collection approach and reviewed the model architecture before training.

Outcome

A working prototype was delivered at the end of the Capstone program and is now in a pilot phase on one production line. The engineer left with complete documentation and a clear understanding of where the model's limitations lie and how to address them.

Challenge

Legal Document Categorisation

A freelance developer was contracted to build a document categorisation tool for a legal services firm. They had the programming skills but lacked experience with NLP or document-level text classification.

What They Did

They attended the NLP Workshop to build the foundational skills, then used the Capstone Mentorship to develop the specific classification system for the client. The mentorship provided structured guidance on the more complex aspects of document-length text handling.

Outcome

The system was delivered to the client and is currently in production use. The developer described the Capstone Mentorship as directly responsible for helping them avoid two significant architectural decisions that would have created maintenance problems later.
